In the Celtic Tarot, there is a foundational awareness of the Tree of Tradition. You may also know it as the Tree of Life.
Have you heard the saying:
“As Above So Below”
This is in reference to the Tree of Tradition (Life). The Tree of Tradition (Life) consists of three main segments: roots, trunk, and branches. These three segments take us on a life journey.
Root – Journey of finding Expression (Grounding)
Trunk – Journey of finding Wisdom (Activation)
Branches – Journey of finding Truth (Spiritual Enlightenment)
Notice that the Roots are interconnected and woven tightly together. They provide the stability required to go on a spiritual journey. The support needed to allow the expansion of the branches to reach maximum height, to connect to the spiritual enlightenment of the heavens.
The trunk holds the internal fire. The essence of one’s being. It is supported by the roots. The trunk acts as the core energy system, equivalent to the seven chakras. It houses the spiritual Kundalini energy to feed and nourish the journey towards truth and spiritual enlightenment.
Lastly, the branches expand wide, reaching towards the heavens to gain spiritual enlightenment and knowing. They reach well above the roots and trunk, seeing all without earthly obstruction or influence. They move freely with acceptance to embrace whatever happens. Adapting with the changing seasons. Summer transformational growth, Fall release, Winter internal reflection, and Spring rebirth.
Reminding us that the higher our branches reach (spiritual enlightenment) the deeper our connection (roots) becomes.
